Stand on the highest point of land in the United Kingdom (1,345 m) via the classic Mountain Track (also known as the Pony Track or Tourist Path).Starting from the Ben Nevis Inn at Achintee, the well-made path climbs steadily through Glen Nevis with views of waterfalls and the Halfway Lochan (Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe). It weaves through a series of switchbacks up the western flank, offering glimpses of lakes and distant Munros on clear days. The upper section crosses the broad, stony summit plateau, where you follow large cairns to the ruins of the old meteorological observatory and the trig point on a raised platform. For a brief, exhilarating moment, you'll stand higher than anywhere else in the UK, with vast panoramic views across Scotland. Descent follows the same path back to the start, completing a demanding but iconic day.
